STUDENT PROFILE

March 2009

Mat Miller, 37
9th Kyu

Why did you begin martial arts training?

I've always kept my body fit with weight training and other exercise, but the one thing I was lacking was self-defense. I did some research and Ninjutsu looked like the training and self-defense I was interested in.

Did you have any previous martial arts training before joining CNC?

No.

What do you like the most about Ninjutsu?

One of my favorite aspects of Ninjutsu is the options it gives you if ever in a bad situation. Ninjutsu teaches you how to evade or avoid, but it also teaches how to defend yourself if attacked.

What has been the greatest benefit from your training?

The confidence it gives you. I've noticed my confidence level has improved in general since joining the Columbus Ninjutsu Club.

What has been your biggest challenge?

I think a lot of people say this, but my biggest challenge is learning the Japanese words.

What advice would you give to a new student?

Come to class with an open mind, ready to learn and always respect the higher belt classes.
