STUDENT PROFILE

March 2005

Christopher A. Morrison, 23
8th kyu

Why did you begin martial arts training?

Ever since I was little, I always told my mom that I wanted to be a Ninja. So from a young age I was very intrigued by martial arts. When the opportunity to train presented itself to me, I jumped at the chance as quickly as I could.

Did you have any previous martial arts training before joining CNC?

No. I did wrestle in school but I have not had any martial arts training prior to joining the Columbus Ninjutsu Club.

What do you like the most about ninjutsu?

I like the actual craft of ninjutsu. It's so precise and direct. As I learn more techniques, I have realized what a beautiful thing it is to be able to experience.

What has been the greatest benefit from your training?

Training has really taught me about focus, integrity and just all around being more aware of yourself and your surroundings. It has made me feel and everyone else around me feel safe and confident.

What has been your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge was patience and slowing down. By slowing down and being patient, I have really gotten a much firmer grasp on all of the little intricacies of everything in every aspect.

What would you say to someone who is considering ninjutsu training?

I would like to tell anyone who is considering to train in ninjutsu to be patient, listen, and focus. Do not let a mistake frustrate you or hurt your self-confidence or it will inevitably effect your training tremendously. I recommend practicing your Kokyu Ho (breathing) and Kaiten (rolling techniques) the first couple of months.
