STUDENT PROFILE

July 2005

Scott Green, 45
9th Kyu

Why did you begin martial arts training?

To feel more confident and able to defend myself. To expand my phsyical abilities.

Did you have any previous martial arts training before joining CNC?

Does watching "Kung Fu" in the 70's count? If not, then no.

What do you like the most about ninjutsu?

In reference to our class, the controlled and cooperative environment in which instructors and training partners provide during training. In reference to ninjutsu on the whole, it is unarmed combat, applicable to any situation in any environment. I believe that would be the most important defense for me.

What has been the greatest benefit from your training?

Before this experience, I didn't really believe in what martial arts could do. I thought that it worked in movies and that it could provide someone a minor advantage. Now I see that it is an amazing tool and I have been inspired to want that advantage. I'm also starting to develop a better communication with getting my body to respond properly.

What has been your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge is teaching my body to do what is shown to me. I haven't played a lot of sports and have not previously sought many activities involving physical agility. It is hard for me to begin this level of "phsyical learning" so late in life.

What would you say to someone who is considering ninjutsu training?

The first class is free. Better you should spend an hour investigating, than be 20 years older and wishing that you explored that option earlier.
