STUDENT PROFILE

February 2008

Brittany Letcavits, 19
9th Kyu

Why did you begin martial arts training?

I began training to feel safe, and because it looks cool!

Did you have any previous martial arts training before joining
CNC?

Yes, I took Tae Kwon Do for a year and a half.

What do you like the most about Ninjutsu?

I like many things about Ninjutsu, however, the best part about training here is everyone's open-mind-attitude. This art is really great for many ages and body types because it is acceptable here to make it work for you.

What has been the greatest benefit from your training?

The greatest benefit from training is knowing what it feels like to be hit, kicked, and thrown. This prepares you for moments when you really need to use what you learn in class. You know what it feels like so you aren't hysterical, and you aren't arrogant about skills you've never actually used.

What has been your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge is just showing up. It is easy to think about how sore you'll be after class, or how there are so many other things you need to accomplish. But once you get to class and start moving, all of those things become unimportant.

What advice would you give to a new student?

I would say just to tough it out, no matter what.
