Why did you begin martial arts training?
Ever since I quit Tae Kwon Do years ago, I felt like I had a hole in my life; I always felt that I was wasting my life on dumb stuff. Finally, I had a revelation; I was going to get back into martial arts no matter what. So I cut the garbage out of my life, and limited my party time. After I decided that I was going to get back into martial arts, I went on the internet and did some research on different styles. I was always interested in ninjutsu, but never really knew much about it. I found CNC online, went in for a free class, and here I am, “doin’ it up”.
Did you have any previous martial arts training before joining CNC?
I trained in Tae Kwon Do when I was younger, about age 11 to 14. I loved it so much; it was the only thing I could say I was great at.
What do you like the most about ninjutsu?
I like how ninjutsu incorporates so many different thing; you work on stand up, ground techniques, and even non-fighting skills like stealth maneuvers.
What has been the greatest benefit from your training?
The greatest benefit for me, in training in ninjutsu, has been increased stamina. Class works me pretty good and helps to keep me in shape.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge for me in my training has been the ground work. In Tae Kwon Do I am on my feet no matter what, but once I got taken down to the ground in ninjutsu, I didn’t know what to do; so my ground game is a work in progress. Another big challenge for me in my training was having a girlfriend, but that was an easy fix. ;)
What would you say to someone who is considering ninjutsu training?
If you are considering training in ninjutsu you should do it for sure. Ninjutsu is well rounded. You are going to learn everything you need to know if you are going to be in a fight; ninjutsu will also help you get/stay in shape, at least it does for me. And if money is a problem, it is not that big of a deal to set some money aside for training; don’t focus on your wants, skip out on going to the bar so much, or whatever; you know you can cut out some kind of useless expense!
