Why did you begin martial arts training?
Research, cross training, and for fun.
Did you have any previous martial arts training before joining CNC?
Not officially.
What do you like the most about Ninjutsu?
I like the flexibility and all encompassing nature of the whole system. With Ninjutsu I get to decide how or when to apply a concept or technique in a situation. I'm not limited by the confines of memorizing a kata that counters unrealistic attacks.
What has been the greatest benefit from your training?
Patience, flexibility, strength, and confidence.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Pacing myself. I get overzealous in training and try techniques before I'm ready.
What advice would you give to a new student?
1. Eat light a few hours before class. 2. If you're having trouble with a technique, try bending your knees more and breathing out first. If that doesn't work, ask a senior student. 3. Focus on gaining consistent control of your techniques, not just getting your next belt. 4. Use the Japanese dictionary on Shidoshi's website (www.impactninjutsu.com) to help learn the meanings of the terms.
