Why did you begin martial arts training?
I began at 11 years old because I was just fascinated by the martial arts in general. That and because I had an older brother that was a lot bigger than me! :)
Did you have any previous martial arts training before joining CNC?
Yes. I trained in a animal style of Kung Fu for about 3 years as a kid. In early adulthood I trained in a traditional chineese style of Wah Lum Tam Tui Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu also for a few years. Then years later I trained at the Columbus Quest Center for about a year before having shoulder surgery.
What do you like the most about Ninjutsu?
It's hard to narrow it down to just one thing. I love the fact that it encompasses the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of martial arts in order to train one to become a complete person rather than just a fighter.
What has been the greatest benefit from your training?
Just the all around continuation of knowledge about the art is a great benefit to me.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Healing form injuries, soreness, etc. My body doesn't bounce back like it used to. Also getting my cardio up to par has been a big challenge.
What advice would you give to a new student?
Give respect to the teachers and the techniques, and focus on the details.
